China Responds Strongly to Oil Spill

Currently, ConocoPhillips is battling a nettlesome oil leak in its joint venture in China as they are running a strict opposition from the media, government and environmentalists.

Production has been forced to shut in Conoco, the operator and partial partner with state- owned Cnooc in South China Sea field.

One of the largest blocks in China, the Penglai 19-3 block in Bohai Bay, which accounts for 4% of Cnooc’s production through only 3% of Conoco’s worldwide production.
