A big share of the funds from $36.8 million settlement to restore the natural resources affected by the oil spill in San Francisco Bay on November 7, 2007 will be used by the state and federal agencies and to improve the area’s recreational opportunities which the spill affected.

The funds are in part of the $44.4 million settlement paid by the Regal Stone Ltd and Fleet Management Ltd. These are the companies which are responsible for the 53,000 gallons of oil spill of their container ship Cosco Busan in the bay when it hit the San Francisco- Oakland Bay Bridge.
