Last Friday, September 2, 2011, President Barack Obama gave in to GOP demands by withdrawing the plans to strengthen the nation’s public health standard for ozone pollution under the Clean Air Act. The worst aspect of Obama’s bad decision is that he gave an official blessing to the polluter’s worst propaganda and perpetuated the decades-old belief that public health and environment protection must be traded off against jobs. However, the health and environment safeguards do not destroy jjob, instead they make them most especially during a recession.
