Natural Gas Field Found in Sri Lanka

    A natural gas field has been found in Sri Lanka for the very first time. It was officially announced the President Mahinda Rajapakse. The president revealed this while having a speech at a ceremony held in President Rajapakse’s official residence in Kandy today.

 

The said natural gas field is found in the Northwestern Mannar basin. Cairn India which is engaged in oil exploration activities has found three oil wells so far and drilling of the second well has already begun.
